“In God's Word, which may be represented as a garden filled with roses and lilies and pinks, we may pluck by faith the precious promises of God, appropriate them to our own hearts, and be of good courage—yes, joyful in God—or we may keep our attention fastened on the briars and thistles and wound ourselves severely and bemoan our hard lot.” 3SM 163.4.

Focus on the promises
Due to circumstances, the positive aspects of faith can be lost sight of. Look for the precious promises of God and turn away from the thorns and thistles the adversary brings to your attention. Focus on the beautiful flowers, hold fast to the promises in the Word.
A great way to focus on precious promises from the Bible is to sing these verses. Bible verses set to music can be found on YouTube and other places online. They are also called scripture songs. An additional advantage of singing the promises is that you remember them more easily because of the melody.
